2017 Centime - Skin Fermented Grenache Blanc
Skin Fermented/Orange Wine
Centime, France's original penny, is Two Shepherds' small annual production of skin fermented Rhone white wines, known as orange wine because of the color the skin contact gives.
Who says orange wines have to be tannic and/or oxidized? If you have had William's unique style of red wines, you may appreciate Centime, a gentler, more approachable orange wine. Nice structure, minimal tannins for an orange wine with aromas and flavors of citrus peel and spice. Recommended serve with food.
The 2017 release is 100% Grenache Blanc from the Russian River Valley, Sonoma. This is out final release of Centime as Grenache Blanc, with the switch to Vermentino for 2018 onwards.
4 barrels, 100 cases crafted. 11.8% alc
Highlighted in Forbes by Michelle Williams' article What's The Deal With Orange Wine? as as wine "demonstrating the age-ability of this category" with "structure, depth, and elegance uncommon in this category. Food pairings only limited by imagination."
