It's back! Inspired by our kitten, Wiley, a carbonic soul. A true carbonic carignan, sealed in tank for 2.5 weeks, then pressed back to stainless to finish fermenting and aged 4 months. Intense fresh berry aromatics leap out of the glass, both complex & fun flavors, that belie its youthfulness.
Our third vintage of our wildly popular Pinot Meunier! In our opinion the best yet, with the silkiness of the 2015, and the structure of the 2016. This variety is rarely found as a still wine, and often abused when it is. It’s a delicate wine that doesn't respond well to heavy oak, thus perfectly suited for our light hand. The goat logo pays tribute to finding this vineyard when getting our two goats. Only 100 cases made.
Farmed organically. Native to southern France, the name means ‘lip stinger’ – a naturally high acid white grape perfect for our wine style. This 6 barrel lot was fermented and aged in 50% stainless steel, and 50% neutral puncheon (double sized barrel) for 8 months. Mouthwatering acidity, weight and aromatics. 12.1% alc.
The wine has nice acidity, but also great texture, weight and mouthfeel, making it a complex white. Vinography agrees: "..crisp and juicy but with a richness of flavor that makes it a bit more serious than you expect it to be when you first put it in your mouth...bright lemony and grapefruit citrus flavors are sharp and juicy thanks to excellent acidity. There’s also a hint of candle wax to the flavor and a faintly honeyed richness "
A unique wine from an obscure grey skinned grape, originally from the Jura. The grapes are the only planting in CA, from a 40 year old vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Fermented with native yeast on the skins for five days to extract color, flavor and texture, then aged in neutral barrels for 6 months. Similar to the 2017 and 2018 releases, this vintage is destemmed, allowing a fresh and vibrant expression.
Our FINAL vintage of our flagship white Rhone blend. This vintage we broke the tradition of Roussanne being the leading variety, as the 2016 Viognier was especially good, and bright and we blended in some Vermentino for the first time.
This new blend is 45% Viognier, 25% Roussanne, 25% Marsanne, and 5% Vermentino. The Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier, are from the esteemed Saralee's Vineyard, in Russian River Valley.
We invested in th 4 years of cellar aging to allow this wine to shine, and its a youthful experience, once again belaying the myth that white wines don't age.
Finally ready for release after 5 years in bottle, gracefully resting! From the esteemed Saralee's Vineyard, Russian River planting, this small less than 1 acre planting of Roussanne is the only one in the entire AVA. Who says orange wines have to be tannic and/or oxidized? This is a gentler, more approachable orange wine.
Centime, French for Penny, is Two Shepherds small annual production of skin fermented Rhone white wines, known as "orange" wine, because of the color the skin contact gives. The 2016 release is 100% Grenache Blanc from the Russian River Valley, Sonoma. This is out final release of Centime as Grenache Blanc, with the switch to Vermentino for 2018+.
